Classic Lasagna

Traditional layered lasagna with meat sauce, three cheeses, and pasta noodles, baked until bubbly and golden.

Ingredients

  • Traditional layered lasagna with meat sauce, three cheeses, and pasta noodles, baked until bubbly and golden.
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 2 tsp minced onion
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 small cans Contadina tomato sauce
  • 9 Creamette lasagna noodles
  • 32 oz cottage cheese (half 4% whole and half 2% lowfat)
  • 1 cup Kraft parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • Butter for bread

Instructions

  1. 1 Brown hamburger with minced onion and garlic powder
  2. 2 Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, and basil to meat mixture
  3. 3 Simmer sauce while preparing noodles
  4. 4 Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions (without salted water)
  5. 5 Mix together cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, dried parsley, and egg
  6. 6 Layer in this order:
  7. 7 Repeat layers, ending with noodles
  8. 8 Top final layer with shredded Mozzarella cheese
  9. 9 Bake at 350-375 degrees for about 30 minutes until edges are bubbly and top is slightly browned
  10. 10 While lasagna bakes, butter French bread slices and brown under broiler
  11. 11 Serve lasagna with toasted French bread
  12. 12 Can be adapted for crockpot cooking. Use half 4% whole and half 2% lowfat cottage cheese for best results. Kraft parmesan in the green jar is recommended.
